Gainsborough Gardens
WIP
This garden was designed alongside a new ground-up home in Pasadena, shaped by the site’s gentle slope and the desire to create multiple outdoor rooms connected by planting and movement.
At the front, a meandering path leads to the entry beneath young sycamores, scented with native sages brushing the walk. A small plum orchard is tucked off to the side, paired with three raised vegetable planters.
The main lounging area is nestled into the grade, joined by a rock fountain and wrapped in dense planting. Beyond, the backyard unfolds as a series of paths and pads: one with a hammock, another with a small bistro table, another anchored by a custom Pyung Sang table. Each space its own pause, its own mood.
A landscape built slowly, responding to the land, inviting wandering, rest, and connection.
